Course Background

Benjamin Franklin once said, 'In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes.' We would add a third item to his list: Rage. Controlling and limiting anger is important in every aspect of one's life. Without control you are putting limits on what you can accomplish in your personal and professional life.

 

Rage can be an incredibly damaging force, costing people their jobs, personal relationships, and even their lives when it gets out of hand. However, since everyone experiences it, it is important to have constructive approaches to manage it effectively. The Coping with Rage course will help teach participants how to identify their anger triggers and what to do when they get angry.

The Creative Problem Solving course will give participants an overview of the entire creative problem solving process, as well as key problem solving tools that they can use every day. Skills such as brainstorming, information gathering, analysing data, and identifying resources will be covered throughout the course.

Developing EQ for Professional Development 

Course Background

Emotional Quotient or Emotional Intelligence describes the ability to understand one's own feelings, and that of groups, and how these emotions can influence motivation and behaviour. The concepts of Emotional Intelligence have been around since at least the 1900's, but the term was first introduced by Wayne Payne in 1985.

 

As a result of the growing acknowledgement by professionals of the importance and relevance of emotions to work outcomes, the research on the topic continued to gain momentum, but it wasn't until the publication of Daniel Goleman's best seller Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ that the term became widely accepted by mainstream media.  This course is aimed to teach the participants all about basics of self-management to identifying the benefits of emotional intelligence and how to balance optimism and pessimism as it all relates to and affects everyone at the workplace.
